April

April 5 -- Blessing of the Fleet: On Palm Sunday watch as watercraft from trawlers, yachts, sailboats and motor craft; all decorated with flags and bunting, receive this special blessing from the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. The ceremony dates back hundreds of years and begins at noon with a procession from the Cathedral Basilica to the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. For more information call 829-2992.

April 3-5 -- Annual Rhythm and Ribs Festival: Don’t miss St. Augustine’s hottest and most popular festival! Voted 2 years in a row St. Augustine’s BEST festival! Mouth watering barbeque, soulful blues, and a fun, family environment. This years leading act is Leon Russell, legendary blues musician! Festival takes place Friday 5-10pm, Saturday 10am-10pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.

April 18-19 -- Spring Art and Craft Festival: 125 artists exhibiting to sell in a variety of media, including oil painting, watercolor, pottery, leather, photography, sculpture, jewelry, wood, textiles, and more. Artists will display their creations at St. Augustine’s Francis Field on Castillo Drive during this two-day festival. Festival runs from 10am-5pm Admission is $1 per person, donation goes to the Art Association.

April 18-19 -- 14th Annual Flower and Garden Expo: This annual gardening extravaganza features a wide variety of vendors offering beautiful and unusual plants, flowers, herbs and other gardening accessories. For more information call 829-3295.

April 26 -- A Taste of St. Augustine: The Amphitheatre will be the setting for a marketplace of over 30 area restaurants sell signature “tastes” throughout the afternoon and evening and they are judged for various categories. Other food-related vendors will offer cookbooks, specialty items, and cooking equipment. Tasting will be from 12-8pm For more information call 829-3295.

May 1-3 -- Gamble Rogers Folk Festival: This annual three-day celebration of the music, stories and dance is a long time St. Augustine Tradition There will be six stages of continuous music with performances with a special Saturday night performance. Tickets vary in cost, starting at $25. Children under 12 are free with a paid adult (excluding Saturday night’s performance, when admission for children is $10). Event this year takes place at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds, 7 miles west I-95 on State Road 207. For more information call 208-5210.

June 26-28 -- Greek Landing Day Celebration: This festival pays tribute to the arrival of the first colony of Greeks in North America. St Photios Shrine, located on St. George Street serves as a memorial to those Greek colonists by witnessing the Orthodox Faith and promoting the Hellenic culture. First Friday Artwalk
Every 1st Friday of the month
Sponsored by the Art Galleries of St. Augustine. Participating member galleries will remain open until 9 p.m. the first Friday of each month. New openings, new art and old friends can be seen and met downtown. The event features free self-guided tours for St. Augustine's art galleries. From 5-9pm. Refreshments served at each gallery. Music and Film Series
Every Wednesday,
The St. Augustine Beach Civic Association presents the Concerts by the Sea, a summer movie and music series, at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Pier Park Pavilion for free.

 

 

Candlelight Viewing
Every 1st Saturday of the month
On the first Saturday of each month at Fort Clinch State Park, there will be a guided fort tour after sundown. Times will vary depending on sunset. For information, call (904) 277-7274.
 
Flagler College tours
Every day
Flagler College tours are given daily. Tour the former hotel Ponce De Leon, famous for its Tiffany windows and Spanish Renaissance Architecture. Tours run from 10am until 2pm every hour. For more information call 823-3378.
 
Fort Mose Exhibit

Colonial America's Black Fortress of Freedom. The first free black settlement in America--permanent exhibit at Ponce de Leon Mall.
 
Nature Walks at Fort Clinch
Every Saturday,

Jazz Jam
Every 4th Sunday of the month
Every fourth Sunday of the month from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the VFW, U.S. 1 South. Sponsored by The St. Augustine Jazz Society. Call (904) 797-7361. Doug Carn will make an appearance.
 
Music Jam
Every 5th Monday of the month
Creekside Dinery has a jam session from 6 to 8 p.m. the last Monday of every month. The Dinery is located at 160 Nix Boat Yard. Call 829-6113.
 

Ghosts and Gravestones
Every day
All aboard the Trolley of the Doomed! Explore the darker side of St. Augustine as you go inside three of the most haunted buildings in the city: the Old Drug Store, Spanish Military Hospital, and the Old Jail. Old Town Trolley Tours of St. Augustine
